Getting dentures requires several visits to Leisure Dental. During the first visit, Dr. Haggerty will examine the soft tissues in your mouth and your gums to make sure they are ready for dentures. Subsequent visits will involve creating a mold of your mouth and extracting any remaining teeth.
There are two main types of dentures: conventional and immediate. The main difference between the two is the amount of time between the extraction of your teeth and putting in your new dentures. For conventional dentures, you will wait 8 to 12 weeks after removal of your teeth before you put in your new dentures. By comparison, you would put your immediate dentures in immediately after having your teeth extracted.
